Nvidia’s ‘Cosmos’ AI: Teaching Robots to Think, Walk, and React Like Humans 🤖⚡
Nvidia just hit fast-forward on the future. CEO Jensen Huang took the CES stage to unveil Cosmos, a new family of foundational AI models trained on—wait for it—20 million hours of footage showing “humans walking, hands moving, manipulating things.” Forget dreamy AI-generated art; Cosmos is about teaching robots how to understand and navigate the real world without knocking over everything in sight.
During his keynote, Huang showed off Cosmos simulating warehouse scenarios, like boxes tumbling off shelves. The goal? Help robots learn what chaos looks like so they can react accordingly. Even better, companies can fine-tune Cosmos with their own data to make it smarter. Big names like Agility Robotics, Figure AI, and self-driving champs Uber, Waabi, and Wayve are already putting it to work.
But Nvidia wasn’t done. Enter Isaac, its revamped robot simulation platform. Need your robot to learn a task like grasping a weirdly shaped object? Isaac can take a handful of real-world examples and spin up a flood of synthetic training data to speed things along.
And just to flex a little harder, Nvidia dropped Project Digits, a $3,000 personal AI supercomputer. This compact powerhouse can run massive language models—up to 200 billion parameters—without relying on cloud services like AWS or Azure. Oh, and those hyped RTX Blackwell GPUs? They’re on the way, along with new AI agent development tools.
